About me
I have always been passionate about learning and consider myself a life-long student. As a first generation college student, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science degree from Columbia University. Years later, I returned to formal instruction at Shenandoah University where I received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Most recently, I completed my certificate with distinction in college counseling from UCLA Extension.
Staying current in the ever-changing college admissions landscape is critical to providing the most accurate information to students and families. To this end, I continue my professional development as a WOW Certified Essay Coach, an associate member of IECA, a member of NACAC, NJACAC, and visiting dozens of colleges per year.
While the focus may differ, the skills I have developed over 28 years as a physical therapist are the same ones needed to provide the best college consulting available. Mastery of the profession through continuing education, integrity, patience, active listening, problem solving, teamwork, quick thinking, creativity and clear communication are some of the skills integral to both professions.
Both my daughter and my son are currently in college, yet their paths to get there were extremely different. Having this personal connection to the variations in the college admissions process allows me to recognize the unique qualities of each student and how these will shape their particular path. Paying utmost attention to the individual student and working together to find their best college fit is my goal.
My passion for learning, together with a passion to help students has led to the formation of CAP Advisory. Together, we will take a personalized approach to the college admissions process and I will be with you every step of the way. I look forward to working with you! ~ Sue
