“Athletic Recruiting, What to Know Off the Field” is a seminar intended for athletes (eighth grade through junior year) and their parents. It is important for both players and parents to understand the recruiting process. During the seminar, the following topics will be covered:

  • Opportunities to play lax in college (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, MCLA)

  • Importance of academics

  • Eligibility (GPA and NCAA approved classes)

  • College Fit - what it means and how to build a college list

  • What it means to be a student-athlete in college

  • What college coaches look for in a player aside from talent

  • How to communicate with a coach from first contact through commitment

  • Tournaments, prospect days and ID camps - making sense of it all

  • Social media and its role in the recruiting process

  • College visits

  • Commitment - verbal offers and national letter of intent/letter of intent
