Physical Therapy Package
The Physical Therapy Package is designed specifically for college students and recent college graduates with an interest in applying to entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Programs. College is a super busy time for students, especially so when simultaneously preparing for graduate school. Being properly informed about your options and knowing what to expect goes a long way in managing the stress associated with applying to DPT programs. The Physical Therapy Package includes 10 hours of support covering the topics below.
I will review your transcript to make sure you will graduate having satisfied all prerequisites & your grades fall at or above the minimums required. Recommendations for grade recovery and taking summer classes will be made as necessary.
Prerequisite Course Planning
Knowing which DPT programs are test- optional, test-blind or test required is important. While test-prep for the GRE is your responsibility, I will help guide you to determine if the GRE is necessary, when to take it and how to report your scores properly.
Standardized Testing
DPT Programs will ask for letters of recommendation from different sources such as professors, physical therapists, employers, advisors and others. We will discuss who to ask based on the relationships you’ve cultivated. When to ask is equally important, especially rec letters will be uploaded over the summer.
Letters of Recommendation
Together, we will research DPT programs based on your priorities for graduate school. We’ll review each program’s accreditation status, student outcomes data such as grad rates, NPTE pass rates & employment as well as an in-depth review of each program’s financial fact sheet .
Evaluating DPT Programs
I will review the steps you should take to be the best observer. Not only are observation hours required at many programs, these opportunities will give you a glimpse into the life of a PT. This is an important step in the application process. The PT you observe will write your letter of recommendation.
Observation Hours
Being prepared and staying organized is key to a successful DPT application process. I will help you stay on track and aware of requirements and deadlines for each DPT program application using a customized system developed specifically for CAP Advisory graduate students.
Creating an Organizational Strategy
Many DPT programs require an interview which can be virtual, in person, one on one or within a group setting. Being prepared & practicing your interview is key. The interview is often the last step in the application process and acing yours improves your chances of admission!
Interview Prep
There is one personal statement prompt from PTCAS that all DPT applicants will answer. Some programs will have supplemental essays. I will guide you to craft the best essays that will strengthen your application & provide insight to admissions as to why you will make a great addition to their program and the profession.
Essay Writing
There can be a very short window between the time PTCAS opens and application due dates for some DPT programs. There are many layers to the PTCAS application platform and some find it difficult to navigate and the instructions confusing. I’ll support you throughout the process to minimize the stress.
